چکیده

A unique experimental system with collisionless electrons has been developed to investigate waveparticle interaction and/or particle acceleration in turbulence. In the system, electrons are injected from a tip of electron source along a magnetic field in a region between two electrostatic potentials. Some of the electrons trapped in the potentials are accelerated and other electrons are decelerated by oscillating electric field localized at the electrostatic potential with larger magnitude. The accelerated electrons were observed as a current into a disk electrode placed outside the steady electrostatic potential with lower magnitude. The results show that the escaping electrons’ current was the superposition of (1) current enhanced at some discrete frequencies of the oscillating electric field and (2) current continuously increased with increasing the frequency of the oscillating electric field.

Influence of the carrier-envelope phase of few-cycle pulses on ponderomotive surface-plasmon electron acceleration.

Control over basic processes through the electric field of a light wave can lead to new knowledge of fundamental light-matter interaction phenomena. We demonstrate, for the first time, that surface-plasmon (SP) electron acceleration can be coherently controlled through the carrier-envelope phase (CEP) of an excitation optical pulse. Analysis indicates that the physical origin of the CEP sensiti...

Low-frequency electric field fluctuations and field-aligned electron beams around the edge of an auroral acceleration region

Electron beams narrowly collimated to the magnetic field line were observed continuously from a downward current region to an auroral acceleration region (i.e., upward current region). They were well correlated with lowfrequency electric field fluctuations in the auroral acceleration region as well as in the adjacent downward current region. Magnetic field fluctuations were found only in the do...

Three-dimensional relativistic electromagnetic subcycle solitons.

Three-dimensional (3D) relativistic electromagnetic subcycle solitons were observed in 3D particle-in-cell simulations of an intense short-laser-pulse propagation in an underdense plasma. Their structure resembles that of an oscillating electric dipole with a poloidal electric field and a toroidal magnetic field that oscillate in phase with the electron density with frequency below the Langmuir...

Electric field induced nuclear spin resonance mediated by oscillating electron spin domains in GaAs-based semiconductors.

We demonstrate an alternative nuclear spin resonance using a radio frequency (rf) electric field [nuclear electric resonance (NER)] instead of a magnetic field. The NER is based on the electronic control of electron spins forming a domain structure. The rf electric field applied to a gate excites spatial oscillations of the domain walls and thus temporal oscillations of the hyperfine field to n...
